John Wong

John has been a respected member of the sports media for nearly 30 years. Throughout his career, he has worked with the Oakland Athletics, Sonoma Raceway, and co-founded Country Fastball, a radio show blending baseball and country music. A passionate advocate for women's sports, John has experience covering women's college basketball, the WTA, and the ABL’s San Jose Lasers. John covers the Golden State Valkyries for Bay Area Sports Wrap.

Born and raised in Montana, he brought his Midwestern sensibility and values to the Bay Area in 1995. He has made it his mission to spread positivity and offer an optimistic perspective on life. John attended the University of San Francisco, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing before embarking on his sports career. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the Bay Area’s fine restaurants, entertainment options, and popular dog parks.
